Buying a Sauna or Cold Plunge Before Black Friday: A Timing Checklist

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27. If a sauna, cold plunge or full recovery room is on your list for this year, the date that counts is the day your room is ready to use. Large recovery equipment moves by freight, often ships from the manufacturer, and usually needs power, water or floor preparation before it can run. This guide lays out the timeline so you can decide whether to order now or wait, with every step based on published shipping terms and questions you can put to any seller.

Start with the date you want to use it

Pick the day you want the first session in your own home. Then work backward through four stages: manufacturer lead time, order processing, freight transit, and room preparation. Each one has its own clock, and the longest one sets your real start date.

A discount can be worth waiting for. So can a holiday gift that arrives in time, or a room that is ready before guests arrive. Knowing the four clocks lets you choose with the full picture.

What the delivery path looks like

Our shipping policy sets out the published estimates for orders from The Recovery Outlet. Delivery times are estimates, and the policy says so plainly.

• Processing: most orders are processed within 1 to 3 business days. Large equipment, freight shipments and made-to-order items can need more scheduling time based on the manufacturer.
• Parcel shipping: typically 5 to 10 business days after shipment, for items that travel by parcel carrier.
• Freight shipping: typically 7 to 21 business days after shipment, depending on carrier scheduling, location and availability. Large items such as saunas, cold plunges and hyperbaric chambers typically ship by freight.
• Curbside by default: standard freight delivery is curbside. Inside delivery, stair carries, placement and assembly are arranged in advance where available.
• Someone must be home: an adult 18 or older needs to receive a freight delivery, and the carrier will call to schedule it.
• Inspection window: damage, defects or missing parts must be reported within 48 hours of delivery, with photos.

We ship within the contiguous United States. When you place an order, your payment may be pre-authorized while we confirm availability and shipping readiness with the manufacturer, and the charge is finalized once that is confirmed.

A worked example with a Black Friday order

Here is what the published estimates mean for an in-stock freight item ordered on Black Friday, before any manufacturer lead time is added. We counted business days only and skipped the Christmas and New Year holidays.

• Order placed Friday, November 27.
• Processing of 1 to 3 business days puts shipment between Monday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 2.
• Freight transit of 7 to 21 business days puts delivery between about Wednesday, December 9 and Monday, January 4.

So an in-stock freight order placed on Black Friday can arrive in early December, and at the long end of the published range it can arrive after New Year's Day. If the model is made to order or backordered, the manufacturer's lead time comes before all of this. Ask for that number in writing for the exact model and finish you want.

The same math for an order placed in mid October puts the long end of the freight range in mid November, with room left over for electrical work and setup before the holidays.

Room preparation is often the longest clock

Freight gets the equipment to your curb. The room decides when you can use it. Plan these items before the truck is scheduled.

Saunas

Many full-size saunas need a dedicated 240V circuit, and some smaller models run on a standard 120V outlet. The exact requirement is set by the model, so read the manufacturer's installation sheet before you order. Cold plunges

A filled cold plunge is heavy, so confirm the floor or patio can carry the full weight listed for your model. Check the outlet type the chiller calls for, the clearance it needs for airflow, and how you will drain and refill the tub. Hyperbaric chambers and larger systems

Sauna and plunge together, or one at a time

Many buyers plan heat and cold as a pair. Buying both at once has practical advantages. You measure the space once, the electrician handles every circuit in one visit, and the room is laid out for the full routine from the start. You can browse matched options in our sauna and plunge collection.

Buying one piece first makes sense when space, power or budget points that way. In that case, plan the room for both anyway. Leave the floor space, run the second circuit if you can, and note where water and drainage will go. The second piece then drops into a room that is already ready for it.

If you plan to use HSA or FSA funds

Some buyers pay with pre-tax health account funds. Eligibility depends on the product, your plan's rules and, in many cases, a letter of medical necessity from your provider. Many flexible spending accounts also have year-end deadlines, grace periods or carryover limits that differ from plan to plan. A buy-now or wait checklist

Work through these in order. The first two decide most cases.

1. Your ready-by date. Write down the day you want the first session.
2. Manufacturer lead time. Ask for the current lead time for your exact model and finish, in writing.
3. Freight window. Add 1 to 3 business days of processing and 7 to 21 business days of freight transit.
4. Room readiness. Confirm power, floor load, water, drainage and the delivery path. Book the electrician if you need one.
5. Delivery level. Decide whether curbside works or whether you need inside delivery or placement, and arrange it before the order ships.
6. Someone at home. Block the delivery window on the calendar of the adult who will receive it.
7. Funding. If you are using HSA or FSA money, confirm your plan's rules and deadlines.
8. Price. Compare the current price with any sale you expect, and weigh the difference against the weeks of use you gain or lose.

If the ready-by date falls inside the holidays and the room still needs work, ordering earlier usually protects the date. If the room is ready, the model is in stock and your date is flexible, waiting for a sale can make sense. Either way, the checklist tells you before you commit.

We ship to addresses in the contiguous 48 United States. Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, APO and FPO addresses, P.O. boxes and international addresses are outside our shipping area.

Can I return a sauna or cold plunge?

Most products may be returned within 30 days of delivery unless the product page or the manufacturer says otherwise. Returns need prior authorization, items must be unused and uninstalled in original packaging, and restocking fees and manufacturer terms can apply.
