FAQs

What does 1.4 ATA mean, and how is a soft shell chamber different from a hard shell?

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute — a measure of the pressure inside the chamber. At 1.4 ATA (about 5.8 PSI / 52 KPA), this chamber pressurizes to 1.4 times normal sea-level air pressure, which is the range commonly used for personal and wellness hyperbaric sessions.

This is a soft shell chamber, meaning the pressure vessel is built from high-strength tri-layered TPU/polyester fabric with heat-welded seams and a metal internal frame, rather than rigid steel. Soft shell chambers operate at lower pressures than hard shell units and are generally lighter (73 lbs here) and easier to set up in a home, while a metal internal frame keeps the structure stable and prevents collapse during use.

How does setup work — oxygen, air, venting, and power?

The chamber ships as a complete system. An oil-free air compressor pressurizes the chamber and feeds it through a 5-stage filtration system, while the included 10 LPM oxygen concentrator delivers 95%–97% oxygen through a face mask. A multi-port internal connection allows dual-mask operation so more than one mask can be used.

Air stays fresh because the design prevents carbon dioxide build-up by exhausting through pressure-relief valves, and a noise-reducing muffler keeps operation quieter. The full system runs on standard 110–120v power (around 1,460 watts total), with 220v and international voltage/plug options available. Video setup training and guides are included to walk you through assembly and operation.

Who is this chamber best suited for, and can it be used solo?

The 40-inch diameter and 89-inch length make this a roomy lie-down chamber with enough space for an adult to lie flat, sit up, stretch, or even sleep through a session. The page lists a 1–3 person capacity and applications spanning personal home use, wellness clinics, sleep-chamber setups, and recovery support.

It is designed to be operated alone, without assistance, and is offered in top-entry or side-entry configurations so you can choose the access style that fits your space. Note that this model is not described as wheelchair-accessible; if step-in or transfer access is a requirement, confirm the configuration with our wellness team before ordering.

Is hyperbaric therapy right for me?

That is a question for a qualified physician, not a product page. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, but it is not a substitute for medical care and is not appropriate for everyone — certain conditions are contraindicated.

Individual results vary. Always consult a qualified physician before beginning any hyperbaric protocol, and follow their guidance on session length, frequency, and pressure. As an authorized dealer, The Recovery Outlet is happy to answer equipment questions and connect you with the right configuration for your needs.
