FAQs

What does 1.4 ATA mean, and how is a soft-shell chamber different from a hard-shell?

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute — a measure of pressure. This chamber reaches 1.4 ATA (about 5.8 PSI or 42 KPa), which is a common pressure for home and wellness use. Higher pressure isn't automatically better; the right level depends on your goals and your physician's guidance.

Soft-shell chambers like the Polaris use a flexible, heat-welded TPU fabric shell with a zipper seal, which makes them lighter, easier to set up at home, and well suited to pressures around 1.3–1.5 ATA. Hard-shell (often ASME code-compliant) chambers use a rigid steel or acrylic body to reach higher pressures. The Polaris is a soft-shell chamber and is not ASME code compliant.

How does setup, oxygen delivery, and power work?

The system runs on a standard 110–120V outlet (220V available) and draws roughly 1,460 watts total across the included oil-free compressor and oxygen concentrator. The compressor pressurizes the chamber while the DeVilbiss 10 LPM concentrator supplies 95%+ oxygen through two masks, two headsets, and two nasal cannulas.

The chamber is designed to be operated alone and unattended using the remote control. CO2 is exhausted through the pressure relief valves to prevent build-up, and an internal pressure gauge lets you monitor pressure from inside. A power-outage alarm, attendant buzzer, and emergency pressure release valve are all included for added peace of mind.

Who is this chamber best suited for?

The Polaris is a lie-down (tubular, top-entry) chamber with a 36-inch diameter and a 92-inch length. The interior comfortably fits one adult plus a child, and taller individuals can sit upright inside — both occupant equipment sets are included.

Because it's a lie-down design, it isn't a sitting or vertical walk-in chamber and isn't wheelchair-ready. If you want a roomy, share-capable chamber for at-home recovery and can enter through the top, it's a strong fit. As an authorized dealer, The Recovery Outlet can help you confirm the form factor matches your space and needs before you buy.

Is hyperbaric therapy right for me?

That's a question for a qualified physician. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, but it isn't appropriate for everyone, and certain conditions can be contraindications. Individual results vary, and this chamber is not a substitute for medical care.

We recommend reviewing your goals and health history with your doctor before starting any hyperbaric protocol. The Recovery Outlet is an authorized dealer and can answer product and specification questions, but we don't provide medical advice.
