FAQs

This is a 1.5 ATA chamber — is it soft or hard shell, and what does the pressure mean?

Despite its 1.5 ATA pressure rating, the 34D is a true hard shell chamber. It is built around a rigid pressure vessel — a 2.0 mm thick 304 grade stainless steel body with a 6 mm Bayer (Germany) polycarbonate viewing window — rather than an inflatable soft-sided fabric design.

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute, a measure of pressure. At 1.5 ATA (about 7 PSI / 52 kPa), the chamber holds you at roughly 1.5 times normal sea-level pressure. This unit can also be upgraded to 1.6 ATA as an option. Higher, steady pressure in a rigid vessel is what distinguishes a hard-shell chamber like this one from lighter soft-shell models.

How does setup, oxygen, and power work — do I need oxygen tanks or special wiring?

No external oxygen tanks are required. The 34D uses an integrated all-in-one concentrator that produces its own oxygen on demand at ≥95% purity (10 LPM oxygen flow, 70 LPM air flow) using oil-free PSA molecular sieve technology, with a built-in dehumidifier.

The complete system draws 1200 watts total and runs on standard 110v-120v power as shipped, with 220V available on request. The chamber measures 88″ long by 34″ in diameter, weighs 572 lbs as a total system, and fits through a standard 35-inch doorway for placement in most rooms.

Who is this chamber best suited for?

The 34D is a single-person, lie-down chamber. You enter through a sliding polycarbonate door and recline on the interior mattress and pillow, making it well suited to anyone who prefers to rest flat during a session rather than sit upright.

Its 34-inch diameter offers roomy comfort for one occupant, and the single-user interior controls let you run a full session unassisted. Because it is a horizontal lie-down design entered via a sliding door, it is not configured as a sitting, vertical, or walk-in wheelchair-accessible chamber.

Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy right for me?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, and is popular for sports recovery and general vitality. It is not a substitute for medical care, and individual results vary.

Whether it is appropriate for you depends on your personal health situation. Always consult a qualified physician before beginning any hyperbaric protocol, especially if you have an existing medical condition. As an authorized dealer, The Recovery Outlet can answer questions about the equipment, but cannot provide medical advice.
