FAQs

What does 1.4 ATA mean, and how is a soft-shell chamber different from a hard-shell?

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute, the unit used to describe the pressure inside the chamber. At 1.4 ATA (about 5.8 PSI), the MC4000U runs at the entry-level pressure most home and wellness users begin with, above normal sea-level pressure but gentle compared with higher-tier clinical systems.

This is a soft-shell chamber: its walls are high-strength 44 oz food-grade TPU/polyester fabric with welded seams, supported by an internal steel frame, rather than a rigid steel pressure vessel like a hard-shell unit. Soft-shell chambers are typically lighter, more portable, and designed for the lower-pressure range, which is why they're a common choice for home and wellness-center use.

What does setup and operation involve, including oxygen and power?

The system arrives with everything needed to run sessions: the chamber capsule and internal steel frame, an oil-free air compressor that pressurizes the chamber, and a 10 LPM DeVilbiss oxygen concentrator that supplies 95%+ purity oxygen through the included masks and nasal cannulas. A dehumidifier and muffler are included as well.

Total draw is about 1560 watts across the concentrator, compressor, and dehumidifier, so it runs on standard household power. The MC4000U can be operated solo from inside, and it carries a built-in safety layer including internal and external pressure gauges, an emergency relief valve reachable from both inside and outside, a power-outage alarm, and an attendant buzzer. Optional add-ons such as an air conditioning system, grounding system, air purifier, and UV disinfection wand are available.

Who is this chamber best suited for?

The MC4000U is built specifically for people who would struggle with a traditional lie-down chamber. Its vertical, walk-in, sit-up design lets the user enter through a 32-inch-wide, 52-inch-tall door and sit upright during the session instead of lying flat on the floor.

With a 40-inch bottom frame width and step-through entry, it's intended to accommodate wheelchair users and anyone who has difficulty getting down to or up from the ground. It holds one person and suits both home use and therapy or wellness centers. Inflated, it measures 61"L x 52"W x 66"H, so plan for a space that fits those dimensions plus room to move around it.

Is hyperbaric therapy right for me?

That's a decision to make with a qualified physician, not from a product page. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, but individual results vary and it is not a substitute for medical care.

Certain conditions can make hyperbaric sessions inappropriate, so anyone considering a protocol should review their health history with a doctor first. The Recovery Outlet is an authorized Oxygen Health Systems dealer and can answer questions about the equipment itself; clinical guidance should always come from your physician.
