FAQs

What does 1.4 ATA mean, and how is a soft-shell chamber different from a hard-shell one?

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute — a measure of pressure. At 1.4 ATA, the chamber operates at roughly a 33% increase over normal atmospheric pressure (about 42 KPa, or 5.8 PSI). The higher pressure combined with concentrated oxygen creates an oxygen-dense breathing environment.

This is a soft-shell chamber: a flexible, inflatable-style pressure vessel made from heavy 44 oz food-grade TPU/polyester fabric with welded seams, rather than a rigid steel hard-shell unit. Soft-shell chambers like this one operate at lower pressures (1.4 ATA here) and are designed for home and wellness-facility use. This unit is not ASME-coded.

How does setup, oxygen delivery, and power work?

The chamber arrives with quick connects that simplify installation, and it includes video setup training to walk you through it. An oil-free air compressor pressurizes the chamber while the FDA-approved DeVilbiss 10 LPM concentrator supplies 95%+ purity oxygen through the included masks, cannulas, and headsets.

It runs on standard household power — 110–120V (a 220V option is available), drawing about 1460 watts total. A CO2-prevention system, micron-level filtration, an included dehumidifier, a main and emergency pressure relief valve, an internal pressure gauge, and a power-outage alarm are all part of the package. It can be operated alone, without an attendant.

Who is this chamber best suited for?

This is a single-occupant chamber rated for one person up to 330 lbs. Its standout feature is the wide U-shaped door, which makes entry and exit far easier than a traditional tube — a strong fit for mobility-challenged users and anyone who prefers to step or roll in rather than crouch.

The upright sitting footprint (89 in long) gives taller users room to stretch their legs, and the 180-degree lounge chair means you can use it sitting upright or reclined flat. It's built for personal home use as well as wellness facilities, therapy centers, and recovery studios.

Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy right for me?

That's a question for your physician. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, but it isn't appropriate for everyone and individual results vary. It is not a substitute for medical care.

Always consult a qualified physician before beginning any hyperbaric protocol, especially if you have an existing health condition. As an authorized Oxygen Health Systems dealer, The Recovery Outlet can answer product and specification questions, but we can't provide medical advice.
