FAQs

What does 1.4 ATA mean, and how is a soft-shell chamber different from a hard-shell one?

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute, a measure of pressure. 1.4 ATA is roughly 33% above normal sea-level pressure, or about 5.8 PSI. Raising the pressure increases the density of oxygen you breathe during a session, which is the basic principle behind hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

This is a soft-shell chamber: the pressure boundary is a welded, food-grade TPU and PET fabric reinforced by an internal steel frame, rather than a rigid steel pressure vessel. Soft-shell chambers like this one operate at lower pressures than hard-shell, ASME-coded chambers, and this model is not ASME code compliant.

How does setup work, and what about oxygen and power?

The chamber uses quick-connect installation and ships with video setup training and quick-tips guides. Oxygen is supplied by an included DeVilbiss 10 LPM, FDA-approved concentrator that delivers 95-96% purity, paired with an oil-free 72 LPM air compressor (an optional 120 LPM upgrade is available). A dehumidifier is included at no additional cost.

Sessions are monitored with internal and external pressure gauges, and the system is designed to prevent carbon dioxide build-up during use. A power-outage alarm and an attendant buzzer are built in, and an internal emergency pressure-relief valve lets the user manage pressure from inside.

Who is this chamber best for?

It is designed for a single occupant who prefers, or needs, to be seated rather than lying down. The angled body, flat bottom, and walk-up access make it a strong fit for users who cannot step into a tubular top-entry chamber, and the chamber can be operated alone, without an assistant.

Uninflated, it measures about 89" long, 41.7" high and 27.5" wide; inflated, it expands to roughly 93" long, 44.8" high and 42.5" wide at the center, with a 72-inch entry zipper. The fully adjustable lounge chair reclines through a 180-degree range so you can sit upright or lean back.

Is hyperbaric therapy right for me?

That depends on your individual health profile, and it is a decision to make with a qualified physician, not from a product page. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally used to support recovery, circulation, and overall wellness, but individual results vary and it is not a substitute for medical care.

Always consult a qualified physician before beginning any hyperbaric protocol, especially if you have any existing medical conditions. The Recovery Outlet is an authorized dealer and can answer questions about the equipment itself, but we do not provide medical advice.
